About

Minesweeper is a deduction puzzle on a grid of covered squares. Some hide mines. Open a square and it shows a number: how many of its eight neighbors are mines. From those numbers you work out which squares are safe to open and which to flag.

There are three sizes. Beginner is 9 by 9 with 10 mines, Intermediate is 16 by 16 with 40, and Expert is a tall 16 by 30 board with 99. Your first tap is always safe, and so are the squares around it, so every game opens with room to think.

What makes this version restful is how the boards are made. Before you play, the game tries many layouts and picks one that can be cleared by reasoning alone, so a careful player almost never faces a blind guess. Your best time for each size is kept, and a game in progress is saved as you go.

How to play

  1. Tap any cell to reveal it and start the timer
  2. Flag suspected mines by long-pressing or right-clicking a cell
  3. Double-tap a revealed number to chord-open its safe neighbors
  4. Use numbers to deduce which hidden cells are mines
  5. Tap the hint button if you get stuck

Tips

  • Start with the 1s. A 1 touching only one covered square means that square is a mine.
  • Look for a 1-2-1 pattern along a straight edge: the mines sit beside the two 1s, and the square beside the 2 is safe.
  • Once a number has all its mines flagged, tap it to open every other neighbor in one go.
  • On a phone, turn on flag mode if you find holding to flag fiddly. It swaps tap and hold.
  • A hint opens one safe square for you. It helps when you are stuck, but a game with a hint does not count toward your best time.
